Faulty ignition module operation may result from wiring harness problems, in which case the installation of this new module (which connects to the existing wiring harness seven-socket connector) may not correct the ignition system malfunction. You will need to repair or replace the existing wiring harness if the harness is determined to be faulty.
When replacing the original equipment ignition module on 1983 - 1990 model year vehicles, however, a new adapter wiring harness must also be installed to allow plug-in connection with the new ignition module. See your Harley- Davidson dealer regarding availability of Ignition Module Adapter Wiring Harness Kit (Part Number 32408-90).
